The Lifechanging Gift of Donor Milk: How Donor Milk Nourished Lynne’s Daughter and Son

When Lynne went through a traumatic c-section to deliver her first child, it drastically impacted her lactation. “I was not emotionally, physically, or mentally in a state where I could provide milk to him,” said Lynne.

Fortunately, Lynne’s hospital had safe donor milk from The Milk Bank available. Lynne’s nurse was quick to recommend it as a supplementation option as Lynne focused on her recovery and lactation journey.

A few years later, Lynne found herself in the same situation with her premature daughter. Thankfully she was prepared with the knowledge that her hospital had donor milk available, which took the fear, worry, and pressure away from Lynne.

“It was important for me that my both of my children received donor milk or breast milk because of the health benefits associated with breast milk,” shared Lynne. Now, her children are thriving and healthy, something Lynne attributes to those early feedings of donor milk.

“When I was not able to either have enough of a supply or meet their needs, it really meant a lot to me that I was able to receive the milk that was meeting them on their journey.”
